The museum offers schoolchildren the opportunity to discover the Jacquemart-André Museum through an audio-guided tour and teaching packs. This teaching aid comprises a set of fact sheets given to teachers free of charge. Fully illustrated, it offers both teachers and children a fascinating and rewarding visit and can be used as an enjoyable addition to History or French lessons.
FOR PUPILS AGED FROM 7 TO 11 YEARS OLD
The teacher’s file for 7 to 11 year olds offers a tour of the museum based around the following three topics:
• the historical context of the Second Empire,
• the life of the bourgeoisie,
• the great art collectors of the 19th century.
FOR PUPILS AGED FROM 11 TO 15 YEARS OLD
The teacher’s file for 11 to 15 year olds offers a tour of the museum based around the following three topics:
• the historical context and architecture of the Second Empire,
• the life of high Parisian society at this time,
• the great art collectors of the 19th century.
FOR PUPILS AGED FROM 15 TO 18 YEARS OLD
The educational file for 15 to 18 year olds enables pupils to discover the museum based around the following three topics:
• the lifestyle of the bourgeoisie at the end of the 19th century,
• the activities of the great collectors of the time,
• the social success of an upper middle class family during the Second Empire.
on arrival at the Museum, the children are greeted by a guide who takes them on a wonderful historical journey told through the paintings. After tea at the museum, it’s the children’s turn to use their imagination and think up their own amusing stories.

A delicious break to be enjoyed among friends served in the salon de thé. A present is given to any child celebrating his or her birthday.

• What’s your story?
Using reproductions of the paintings, the guide helps the children to invent their own amusing stories. each child in turn creates a story around the painting and incorporates the information provided by the guide. this can give rise to some highly comical situations!
