The Winter Garden is remarkable on more than one count and testifies as much to the theatrical genius of Edouard André as to the artistic skill of the designer, the architect Henri Parent, who was seeking to surpass Charles Garnier, the builder of the then new Paris Opera House.
At the foot of the stunning double staircase decorated with a Tiepolo fresco, a Winter Garden, overflowing with an abundance of lush, exotic plants, welcomes guests as in the time of Napoleon III.
Just beyond the Winter Garden, the Smoking Room contains the works collected by Nélie Jacquemart during her travels in the United Kingdom, Persia and India.
